Wallacetown School

Our Vision: Skills for Living, Skills for Learning and the Confidence to have a Go

Nau mai, Haere mai, Welcome

We are a rural school situated eight kilometres west of Invercargill. As a contributing school, we cater for students Year 1 to Year 6, in a family atmosphere unique to rural schools. Small class numbers ensure that we are able to cater for the individual needs of our students. Wallacetown School is a well-resourced rural school. The swimming pool, netball court and sports fields are all used by the wider community. The playground is also open for the community to use with the adventure playground being very popular. The school has a strong family atmosphere and sense of community spirit.

Our Values: Be Responsible (Takohanga), Be Respectful (Whakaute), Be Learners (Akonga)

Principal Message

Tēnā koutou katoa – Welcome to Wallacetown School

I am very proud to be the Principal of Wallacetown School and I hope this website gives you a glimpse of who and what makes our wee school so special.

Our school vision of ‘Skills for Living, Skills for Learning and the Confidence to have a go’ are at the heart of everything we do both in and out of the classrooms. Being a small rural school and only 10 minutes from Invercargill we get the best of both worlds with a number of academic, sporting and cultural opportunities to participate in.

The experience, dedication and passion the staff have for learning, for our students and the school environment shines through in the classrooms, around the school and in the relationships they have with the students and their families.

We have a dedicated fundraising group who are committed in their efforts of raising funds to enhance what we have and what we do here at Wallacetown School.

Welcoming our families, whānau and the wider community to school events and our weekly assemblies is something we can’t wait to get back to doing when the Covid Alert Levels allow us to.

To learn more about our school and to see what we can offer your child and family please get in touch to come for a visit and a tour of our great wee school.
